CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Stormy Petrels fell 5-2 to the Rhodes Lynx in the Southern Athletic Association quarterfinals, bringing an end to the season for Oglethorpe.
It was a narrow finish, as three matches saw tiebreaks including two doubles matches that Oglethorpe lost. The Petrels would have led 3-0 through doubles but instead only No. 2 pair Daniel Cohen and Sam Wasko took an 8-5 victory.
After that, freshman Zack Raymond recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles to round out the scoring. Kirkman Kiker gave his opponent a hard time at No.1 singles, dropping a tiebreak in the first set, but the match was ultimately unfinished. Rhodes was victorious at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles while No. 5 singles also went unfinished.
