ATLANTA - Head Coach Kari Elliott led Oglethorpe's women's cross country team to new heights in her second season, with noticeable improvement from individuals and the team as a whole.

The Petrels opened the season with a 13th of 20 finish at the Jacksonville State Invitational. The next weekend, the team recorded their highest finish of the year: 4th of 15 at the UNG Invitational. Oglethorpe also finished 5th of 16 at Belhaven.

The Petrels placed seventh at the Southern Athletic Association Championships with an average time of 26:47. Senior Riley Michaud finished out front with Hannah Rhodes right behind her. Elliott Baker and Sybella Bertolini finished within the top 50. Oglethorpe then placed 21st of 24 in the NCAA Division III South Regionals, where Rhodes finished 83rd in a field of hundreds.

Individual Highlights

• Michaud was named an SAA athlete of the week in September after finishing 16th at UNG.
• Rhodes' highest finish was 17th and Baker's was 35th, both recorded at UNG.
• Bertolini and Evelyn Parral set new personal records twice within the season.
• Fayana Garcia was named to the SAA All-Sportsmanship team, and also recorded a new PR.

Season Notes

• Three Petrels made their collegiate debuts: Ximena Arias, Bertolini and Garcia.
• The team graduated one senior: Riley Michaud.
• Oglethorpe competed in the SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational for the first time, facing a field of hundreds.
