DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels continued their season Friday evening at the University of North Georgia Cross Country Invitational with another strong showing across both the men's and women's squads. Several Petrels posted personal bests while others made their intercollegiate debut.
The men nabbed a fourth-place finish overall while the women took seventh.
Men's Highlights
- Sophomore Jason Bredemann led the Petrels in the 8k with a time of 29:43.4, earning a 10th-place finish.
- Sophomore Brandon Large made his cross-country debut in the 8k with a time of 31:04.3.
- Freshman Aspen Goss opened his collegiate 8k career with a time of 31:57.3.
- Freshman Selvin Perez Martinez also made his 8k debut, finishing in 33:04.4.
Women's Highlights
- Junior Kirsten Rose led the women's side with a 5k time of 20:05.1.
- Sophomore Mari-Rosa Colon followed with a personal best time of 21:11.9.
- Alana Harp recorded a personal best of her own with a 5k time of 22:20.6.
- Andrea Akwete posted a personal record in the 5k with a time of 23:40.8.
- Jacqueline Mendoza-Perez rounded out a strong day of PRs with a 5k personal best of 24:06.1.

The Stormy Petrels will travel to Sewanee, Tennessee, for the Mountain Goat Open on Saturday, Oct. 3. It is one of two events left on the schedule prior to the Southern Athletic Association Championships.
