Kelly Rothwell joined Oglethorpe in January 2025 as a volunteer assistant coach before moving to the full-time top assistant role in 2026. She brings a proven record of athlete development and championship success to the Oglethorpe cross country and track & field programs.
Since joining Oglethorpe, Rothwell has helped coach athletes to 19 school records, two NCAA Cross Country Championship appearances, an NCAA Track & Field All-American performance, and one of the best conference finishes in program history.
Prior to Oglethorpe
Rothwell served as head cross country and distance coach at Whitefield Academy, where her teams won two state championships, two state runner-up finishes and five consecutive region championships. Her success earned her GHSA Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year, Cobb County Boys Coach of the Year, GATFXCCA Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year, and two Atlanta Track Club Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year honors.

AÂ USATF Level III Certified Endurance Coach, Rothwell combines evidence-based training with an individualized, relationship-driven approach to athlete development. She is completing a master's degree in applied physiology and kinesiology at the University of Florida, with graduate study in human performance and sport psychology.
