Daniel Manget joined Oglethorpe’s athletics staff as director of sports information in July 2021 and was promoted to assistant director of athletics for sports communication in January 2025. Manget comes to Oglethorpe as a two-time Willie Belcher Appalachian Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year.

As assistant director of athletics for sports communication, Manget manages all athletics communications and media relations, and oversees all content on Oglethorpe’s athletics website, gopetrels.com, and social media, @GoPetrels. Manget also staffs the scorers tables and press boxes for all home events and oversees the game operations related to both.

One of Manget’s first projects upon starting at Oglethorpe was a rebrand of the athletic department’s social media, and he spearheaded a redesign of its athletics website, which launched in February 2022. The social media rebrand featured a collective move from all team accounts to a standardized format while the website redesign of gopetrels.com saw the University’s athletics website move to SIDEARM Sports, the premier content management system in intercollegiate athletics.

Manget and his staff consisting of mostly students have bolstered Oglethorpe's archival and historical presence in his three and a half years. Following its rebrand, the athletics website has also seen historical information such as rosters and schedules/results backdated to Oglethorpe's transition to NCAA Division III in 1991, and Manget has also led the charge on editing and producing comprehensive record books for each sport. Each record book serves as a media guide for that sport and includes further information on the history of that sport.

Prior to Oglethorpe

Manget came to Oglethorpe after a 7 ½-year stint at Milligan University in northeast Tennessee. At Milligan, Manget twice earned the Willie Belcher Appalachian Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year honor (2016, 2021), ranking as the top SID in the 16-team league.

Manget oversaw the athletics communications of 31 intercollegiate sports at Milligan, including the launch of seven sports from 2017 to 2021. He also initiated two website redesigns, one with SIDEARM and one with Presto Sports, and bolstered the web traffic on Milligan’s athletics website. In fact, Manget’s efforts in the 2019 design helped the site earn the top spot among NAIA websites according to an article from USA Today Sports. The article specifically noted how well content flowed on the site, and how easy it was on the eyes.

Manget also made tremendous strides on Milligan’s social media presence. He more than tripled the Facebook and Twitter fan bases to nearly 4,000 and 3,500 likes/followers, respectively, and launched the athletic department’s Instagram account in 2014. The Instagram account had over 2,000 followers by the time of his departure in 2021.

Manget attended graduate school at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, from 2012 to 2013. With the Thundering Herd, he served as primary contact for baseball, women’s soccer, tennis and track & field and secondary contact for men’s and women’s basketball. Manget was a part of a sports information staff that saw a 19% increase in web traffic during his 1 ½ years at Marshall, and he took the Marshall baseball official Twitter account to a new level, doubling its followers by his second season.

Prior to Marshall, Manget served Covenant College, his alma mater, as the first full-time individual in the capacity of sports information director. There from 2009 to 2011, Manget oversaw Covenant’s SID department during its transition from NAIA membership to NCAA Division III membership.

At each position, Manget spent much of his spare time assisting with championships that took place in the area. He regularly assisted the Appalachian Athletic Conference with volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball postseason tournaments, and he was a statistician for the NAIA Men’s Basketball DII Showcase for two seasons in 2015 and 2016. He has also been an official scorer for numerous golf tournaments and minor league baseball games.

A Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) member, Manget has been to three CoSIDA conventions.
