Louise Winters came to Oglethorpe prior to the 2021-22 academic year as assistant athletic trainer and quickly rose through the ranks of her department, earning promotion to head athletic trainer in spring 2022 then to assistant director of athletics for sports medicine in spring 2025.

Winters' responsibilities at Oglethorpe include primarily providing medical services for the women’s volleyball team and baseball team.

Prior to Oglethorpe

Winters came to Oglethorpe most recently from University of Pittsburgh where she spent one season at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as the Penn State Greater Allegheny Head Athletic Trainer. Winters developed and implemented rehabilitation programs for orthopedic and athletic injuries, coordinated appropriate care of athletes and executed daily operations of the athletic training room.

Prior to her role at Pitt, Winters served as head athletic trainer for the Rockland Boulders during the 2019 season while serving as a casual call athletic trainer in Pittsburgh from 2018 to 2019.

Education | Personal

Winters earned her Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2018. She earned her Master of Science degree in sports medicine from University of Pittsburgh in 2020.

Winters resides in Sandy Springs with her husband, James, and their dog, Murphy. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and experiencing all that Georgia has to offer.
