Women Fall to Piedmont in Demorest

The women's basketball team lost to Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga. on Tuesday night, 67-44. The Lions used a 23-3 run to close out the final 6 minutes of the first half to seize control of the game.

The Petrels were done in by cold shooting that saw them only make 6 of 31 first half shots (19%) and only 13 of 62 (21%) for the game. Oglethorpe actually led the Lions 14-12 with 5:45 to play in the first half before the Lions aforementioned run to close the half and take command of the contest with a 35-17 halftime lead.

Katie Weeks paced the Petrels with 14 points, 4 rebounds and four steals on the night. Sarah Giles added 11 points, 8 rebounds and two blocks in Oglethorpe's fourth consecutive loss to start the season.

At 0-4 on the young season, the Petrels will look to notch their first victory of 2010-11 when they face Agnes Scott in Decatur on December 1 at 7:00 p.m.
