The volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Tuesday on Pinholster
Court and split results versus Brewton Parker (lost, 3-1) and
Wesleyan (won, 3-0).
The Petrels claimed the first set against Brewton Parker before
dropping three agonizing sets to go down, 3-1 (25-20, 27-29, 22-25,
20-25). Freshman Laura Landry led
the Oglethorpe attack with 21 kills while Jamie Miller and
Brittin
Dawson each recorded 22 assists to lead the team. Dawson and
senior Trupti
Patel posted 12 digs while senior Hilary Miller was
close behind with 11.
The Petrels shook off the tough loss to Brewton Parker and
regrouped to sweep Wesleyan 3-0 in dominating fashion (25-8, 25-7,
25-12). Freshman Samantha Lynn
spiked 11 kills and served two aces while Kate Cassell doled out 26
assists and 6 posted six digs.
With the results, Oglethorpe is now 3-4 on the season and will
look to get back to .500 with a win in Lookout Mtn., Ga. over
Covenant at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
