The women's basketball team lost to Birmingham-Southern in Birmingham on Sunday afternoon, 74-50. The Petrels led the Panthers 34-31 at halftime but were outscored 43-16 in the second half to collect their first SCAC loss of the season.

Oglethorpe raced to the first half lead by making 14 of 29 shots (48%) in the opening 20 minutes but went dreadfully cold in a second stanza in which they only made 5 of 29 shots (17%) en route to the conference loss.

The Panthers won the battle of the boards 46-34 and forced 17 Petrel turnovers against only 7 Petrel assists.

Sarah Giles paced the offensive attack for Oglethorpe with 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots. Katie Weeks added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

Oglethorpe is now 3-8 (2-1) on the year and will host DePauw this Friday at 6:00 p.m.
