The struggles of the Oglethorpe volleyball team continued Sunday afternoon, as they fell to visiting Hendrix in straight sets, 3-0, at Dorough Field House.

The Petrels fell behind 3-1 early in the first set and then, after tying it at 3-3, saw Hendrix go on a run to put them even further back. The Warriors ran off a 16-5 run and went ahead 19-8. However, the Petrels mounted a bit of a comeback to cut the score to 20-14. However, Hendrix pulled away from there to take the set, 25-15.

Hendrix picked up where they left off in the second set, taking a 5-1 lead. They expanded their advantage to 10-3 before the Petrels started to mount a rally, winning three straight points to cut the lead to 10-6. With Hendrix up 14-10, they began the run that would put away the set, winning three straight points to go ahead 17-10, then pulling out to a 22-15 advantage. From there, they put the set away, winning 25-18.

In the third and final set, the Petrels fell behind 5-1, then saw Hendrix go on a massive run to all but put the match away. The 16-5 run put the Warriors up 20-9. Oglethorpe mounted an impressive rally to pull to within five, 22-7, but the Warriors put the match away and won the set, 25-18.

Junior outside hitter McKenna Bondarenko led the squad with 12 kills on the afternoon, while junior setter Anna Marie DiSalvo contributed 15 assists to the effort.

The loss drops the squad to 4-14 on the season, 0-12 in SAA play. They will next be in action Thursday evening, when they take on in-state rival LaGrange in non-conference play at 6 p.m. from Dorough Field House.
