Box Score The Oglethorpe women's basketball team put up a fight against the Knights of Southern Virginia University, but were unable to come out on top as the final score was 79-39.
In their last game of the month, and of 2021, Oglethorpe was led by Daesha McAdmas, who scored 10 points, and Wylie Sheridan, who scored six.
In the beginning, the Petrels briefly took the lead. Oglethorpe tied the score at 8-8 just three minutes in, but the Knights began a 31-0 run with 6:51 on the clock. Southern Virginia kept Oglethorpe from scoring until midway into the second quarter, when Rose Dolmovich made a layup at 6:45 and set the score to 39-10. This was a hard blow for the Petrels, and the Knights kept pushing until the score was 46-16 at halftime.
Although the Petrels managed to get past the Knights' defense a few more times in the third and fourth quarters, it was not enough.
With a final score of 79-39, this game puts the Petrels at 3-9 for the season.
The women's basketball team will have a break from games for the holidays, and return to the court in Arkansas to face Hendrix College on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at 7 p.m.
