JACKSON, Miss. -- The Oglethorpe women's basketball team held a steady lead until the fourth quarter when the Millsaps Majors quickly overtook them to set the final score of 45-37.
 
Oglethorpe's Carly Bell started the game off strong with a 3-pointer, and the Petrels kept up a lead until the two teams were tied at 5-5 seven minutes in.
 
The game stayed in the Petrels' favor as Oglethorpe ended the second quarter with an 11 point lead at 23-12, and the third quarter with a 10 point lead at 32-22.
 
But Oglethorpe's lead did not hold. In the fourth quarter, the Majors went on a 20-5 run, storming past Oglethorpe. Although the Stormy Petrels made an effort, the Majors held their late lead to end the game at 45-37. This puts Oglethorpe at 5-11 for the season.
 
Sydni Donovan led Oglethorpe in the scoring column with 11 points alongside nine rebounds and four blocks. Amy Vazquez followed next with eight points.
 
The next game for the Stormy Petrels is on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at Birmingham Southern.
