ATLANTA -- The Stormy Petrels' regular season came to a close after Oglethorpe played two matches in the Emory Invitational, the first against Randolph-Macon College and closing with the hosting Emory Eagles. Oglethorpe ultimately would fall to the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College 3-1 and No. 11 Emory 3-0.
The Petrels did not go without a fight going into extra-point sets with the Yellow Jackets and two two-point set losses to Emory.
Vs. Randolph-Macon College
Junior Cate Rosenthal posted a career-high 16 kills against the Yellow Jackets, Ellie Alfonso added another nine kills for the Petrels, and Kaitlyn Bassett had eight kills herself.
Sophomore Gabbi Phillips recorded 36 assists and eight digs, junior Sofia Cendoya posted a game-high 26 digs. Rosenthal and Bassett also recorded five and four blocks, respectively.
Vs. Emory University
It was freshman Ashlynn Stephens that led the Oglethorpe offense against the Eagles. She recorded a new career-high with 13 kills on the match.
Seven Petrels found their way into the kill column, while nine made their way into the digs column, again led by Cendoya with another game-high 23 digs. Phillips added another 19 assists in the match.

The Petrels head to Rome, Georgia, to take on the Tigers of Sewanee in the Southern Athletic Association tournament quarterfinals. The match is set for Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
