BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Izzy Forster and Sydney Dattilo turned in two wins at the top of the lineup, but the Oglethorpe women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at Birmingham Southern on Sunday.
The loss moved the Stormy Petrels to 5-8 (1-4 Southern Athletic Association) on the season.
Dattilo maintained her team lead this season for singles victories with her sixth win while Forster kept pace one behind at five wins. Alyssa Merletti, who lost two close sets 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, also has five wins on the season.
Lily Allyene and Alexis Salgueiro also had a pair of close losses, Allyene losing in a second-set tiebreak and Salgueiro falling 7-5 in the second.
Match Notes
- Oglethorpe started the day slow, dropping all three doubles matches with Katie Hunter and Merletti posting the closest result at 8-6.
- Forster snapped a three-match losing streak with her win. She improved to 5-7, all at the top singles spot.
- The Petrels have played with 11 different pairs of doubles teams this season. Forster and Dattilo also lead the team with four doubles wins, but are yet to play together.

Oglethorpe has a week off before returning to play for the final week of the regular season. The Petrels host Centre April 23 and Sewanee April 24. The SAA postseason tournament is set for Friday-Sunday, April 29 – May 1.
