Women's tennis falls to Centre on senior day

ATLANTA – Another close match but another win nonetheless for Oglethorpe's men's tennis team Saturday afternoon as the Stormy Petrels topped visiting Centre 5-4. Oglethorpe celebrated senior day for the women, who fell to Centre 9-0.

Kirkman Kiker had the clinching point in the nail-biting finish, winning his match on a service ace to cap off the win. It was one of three singles matches the Petrels won, with one loss being decided due to a retirement from Ameya Dani who split sets at the No. 1 singles spot.

Daniel Cohen and Zoe Raymond, at No. 2 and No. 5, were victorious in straight sets, Raymond not dropping a game. Cameron Burkes suffered a close loss as he dropped his second set in a tiebreak at No. 6 singles.

Oglethorpe started the day with two of the three doubles points. Dani and Cohen teamed for their fifth doubles win at No. 1 doubles while Burkes and Raymond won their 10th match together at No. 3 doubles.

On the women's side, Izzy Forster had the closest match of the day but lost in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. This came after Katie Hunter and Alyssa Merletti suffered a tight loss at No. 3 doubles, falling in a tiebreak.
