ATLANTA – Sam Mills hit two home runs but Oglethorpe dropped a nonconference game to No. 3 LaGrange, 20-9, Tuesday evening at Hermance Stadium. Oglethorpe and LaGrange split the season series after the Stormy Petrels defeated the Panthers 9-7 two weeks ago.
One of Mills' homers gave Oglethorpe a 7-5 lead but LaGrange answered with nearly all the rest of the scoring. This included a four-run sixth and six-run ninth.
Mills finished the day 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI's. Mason Pearcy posted another great game with a four-hit day, going 4-for-5.
Oglethorpe continues its tough stretch of games with three more against national top-five competition. This weekend, the Stormy Petrels host No. 4 Birmingham Southern in a three-game Southern Athletic Association set. The series will mark the final home games of the season.
