Stormy Petrels suffer first home loss in 1-0 defeat to Sewanee

ATLANTA - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels suffered their first home loss this season after falling 1-0 to Sewanee on Friday.

It was hard for Oglethorpe in the first half with just three shots taken by the team. However, things started to change in the second half. This was especially true when the Stormy Petrels had two chances in just a matter of seconds in the 48th minute.

Carlos Cavallaro took a shot on goal that hit the crossbar and then Dylan Bapst had another shot on goal just seconds later that was saved by Sewanee goalkeeper JP Furman. It seemed that Oglethorpe was knocking on the door until Connor Dail scored from the top of the 18 after a missed clearance to give Sewanee the lead against the run of play in the 60th minute.

Head Coach Jon Akin's side did everything they could to try to get back into the match. In just the dying seconds of the match, leading goal scorer Javier Aponte had the chance to equalize from a header. However, it was just wide. The Petrels had the ability to turn things around in their favor, but were not clinical enough.
