ATLANTA – A cold and rainy evening may not be the most ideal setting, but the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels flourished in their first home game and defeated the Point University Skyhawks 12-7.
Five Petrels entered the scoring column, as junior Israel Pendleton-Moore led with a career high of five goals. Jazz Washington followed with three goals, while Jeremiah James and Pendleton-Moore each recorded two assists. Goalie Addison Irwin recorded 12 saves.
The Petrels dominated the third and fourth quarters, thanks to a 3-0 run toward the end of the third. James was the first to score in the fourth period, and an own goal soon followed as Oglethorpe led 11-5. The Skyhawks managed to make two more goals, but Pendleton-Moore scored once more to mark his career high, and Oglethorpe marked a successful home opener.
The first period was neck-and-neck, ending with the score tied 2-2. Point was only able to score once in the second period, as goals from Pendleton-Moore and Washington put Oglethorpe into a definitive lead at 5-3. After halftime, the Petrels ruled the field and earned their 12-7 victory.

- This was Oglethorpe's first recorded win against Point, as the Skyhawks lead the all-time series 2-1 since 2016.
