ROME, Ga.—A second-half goal from Delaney Hanks gave the Oglethorpe women's soccer team a huge spark in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association tournament, but in the end the Stormy Petrels were eliminated with a 2-1 loss to Berry on Saturday.
The game was a rematch of Oglethorpe's 4-0 loss to Berry to end the regular season just last week.
Although still in a scoreless draw at the half, Berry took command of the lead with two goals early in the second half and led the rest of the way. Hanks' goal, her first of the season, came in the 59th minute and gave the Petrels a huge spark, but Oglethorpe was unable to push one through in the last 30 minutes.
