ATLANTA—Brooke Herdman posted her first collegiate double-double, and the Oglethorpe women's basketball team charged past Southeastern Baptist Saturday afternoon, 74-45, on the first day of the TownePlace Suites Classic. Herdman, one of five Stormy Petrels in double figures, posted 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
Oglethorpe had one of its best defensive games of the season, certainly in the first half as the Petrels limited the Chargers to three first-quarter points and eight second-quarter points for a total of 21 at the break.
The game started with a 13-2 run over the first seven minutes, and Oglethorpe never looked back. It was a 22-point game in the second quarter and as high as a 30-point game in the third quarter.
Game Notes
- Sheraton Foster and Keimarya Rivera led the Petrels with 12 points each. Foster had five rebounds and four assists while Rivera had six rebounds and three assists.
- Anna Conza and Briley Elder both followed with 11 points. Conza had three rebounds and three assists.
- Elizabeth Luick posted a career-high six rebounds.
- This marked the first-ever meeting between Oglethorpe and Southeastern Baptist.
