CLEVELAND, Ga. - Nine Stormy Petrels made their way into the scoring column as Oglethorpe defeated the Truett McConnell Bears 22-4.
Ally Moir led with five goals and two assists, followed by Anna Ramsden with four goals, and Kaitlynn Alford and Amanda Cason both with three. Goalkeeper Tori Perez made five saves.
Alford scored the first goal of the game, and the Bears soon made their response. Oglethorpe prevented them from scoring again and went on to score 11 more unanswered goals. Makenna Bowens, Anna Ramsden, Cason, Moir, DeAnna Hyde, Alford and Sydney Trammell all contributed to the 11-0 run. Truett McConnell scored the first two goals of the second quarter, but Ramsden and Cason combined for a late 14-3 lead.
After halftime, Hyde scored a goal within 40 seconds. Oglethorpe scored four more goals and prevented the Bears from scoring. In the fourth and final quarter, Truett McConnell was able to score one more goal which made no threat to Oglethorpe. Moir fired off one more goal with five seconds on the clock to give Oglethorpe the 22-4 win.
