ROME, Ga.—The Oglethorpe baseball team dropped its first game of another busy weekend Thursday evening on the campus of Berry, falling to Belhaven 5-1.
The lone Stormy Petrel run came with two out in the ninth when Jaxson Corr singled home Carter Guarino who had doubled earlier in the inning. It gave a late spark as two were then on, but a flyout ended the game.
Brick Conway, Corr and Cooper Krause all posted multiple hits in the game, with Krause going 2-for-4. This was Oglethorpe's second straight loss after falling at Piedmont Tuesday night. The Stormy Petrels moved to 5-5 after starting the season 3-1 and 5-3.
Up next, Oglethorpe faces Greensboro Saturday at 7 p.m. then Berry in a nonconference game Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The latter game originally was scheduled for Friday but moved to Sunday due to the threat of rain. Oglethorpe's next home game is set for Friday, March 8, against Birmingham Southern in the Southern Athletic Association opener.
