SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels opened Southern Athletic Association play with a bitter 13-2 loss to the Sewanee Tigers.
Goalkeeper Xay Duax made a career high of 25 saves after facing 69 shots. Jazz Washington and Robbie Coull scored Oglethorpe's goals.
Sewanee was unable to score until midway through the first quarter, but quickly managed four more goals for a heavy advantage over Oglethorpe. The Tigers continued to berate the Petrels, but Coull was the first to score in the third quarter. Even though Sewanee had the clear upper hand, Oglethorpe remained resilient and scored again late in the fourth quarter, this one from Washington thanks to an assist from Max Brand.
However, the Tigers were able to make the last goal of the game, and Oglethorpe fell 13-2.
