Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s tennis wins at LaGrange with near perfect result

LAGRANGE, Ga.—With the third straight win to start the season, the Oglethorpe women's tennis team made swift and easy work of LaGrange Saturday afternoon, defeating the Panthers 9-0.

The Stormy Petrels combined to win 96 of the 99 games played. Needless to say, it was a clean sweep all the way down the lineup card all in straight sets. Izzy Forster and Brianna Ali both improved to 3-0 at the top of the lineup in spots No. 1 and No. 2, both winning without dropping a game. Maddie Nolen and Adeline Horton also improved to 3-0 on the year after posting the same scores at No. 4 and No. 6.

Match Notes

  • Forster and Ali improved to a team-best 2-0 record at doubles after winning 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
  • Alexis Salgueiro and Nolen won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
  • Salgueiro stayed perfect in singles with her second win at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-0.
  • The win for Oglethorpe marked a 3-0 start after the team beat Agnes Scott 8-1 in the opener and Huntingdon 8-1 last week. The latter match saw Oglethorpe prevail in four singles super tiebreaks after splitting the first two sets.
