ATLANTA - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels recorded a few small victories against Centre, but ultimately fell to the Colonels 19-5.
Jazz Washington led with two goals and two caused turnovers. Hayden Fricke scored his first collegiate goal, while other goal scorers were Max Brand and Quade Bedgood. Robbie Coull made two assists and Xay Duax made 18 saves.
The Colonels were quick to create an uphill battle for the Petrels, making the first quarter rather gloomy despite the perfect weather. Brand scored Oglethorpe's first goal late in the period, but Centre managed to score twice more before the clock ran out. Washington scored early in the second period and although the Colonels did not score as often, the Petrels headed into halftime down 15-2.
Washington got the first goal of the third quarter, but this did not deter the Colonels for long. Bedgood and Fricke's goals in the fourth were the last two of the game, but not enough as Oglethorpe fell 19-5.
