MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Oglethorpe women's soccer team met the Centre Colonels for the second time this season in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association tournament on Thursday. Despite having topped the Colonels 1-0 during the regular season, the Stormy Petrels fell in the postseason matchup 3-0.
A heated rematch started with an early goal for the Colonels in the 10th minute to put Centre on the scoreboard at 1-0. Ashley Flores took a strong shot hoping to retaliate yet could not score. The Colonels returned and capitalized on a shot of their own to increase the lead to 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Katherine Crim ended the half with three saves, a testament to her strong defensive efforts.
Delaney Hanks took a shot in the second half looking to put the Petrels on the board but was unsuccessful. In the 77th minute, the Colonels caught wind and scored for a third time to make the score 3-0.
