MEMPHIS- Angelo Nkosi scored his first goal of the season in the second half of regulation to equalize the score as the Oglethorpe men's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw versus Rhodes College on Sunday.
In the fifth minute of the match, Sebastian Lewis picked up his first save of the day after an early shot on goal to the top right from the Lynx. The Petrels controlled the game from the defense, and Alex Watson looked to get the Petrels on the board with a shot on goal but was contained by Rhodes.
A penalty kick was awarded to the Lynx after a foul in the penalty box in the 39th minute. Rhodes capitalized on the opportunity and made the score 1-0.
In the 66th minute Nathan Leveque sent a short pass to Nkosi in the box where he put a quick finish on the ball to find the back corner of the goal and equalize the game 1-1 for the Petrels.
Christian Watson and Sawyer Lee took last-minute shots on goal in attempt to move the Petrels forward, but they could not find the victory and ended in the draw.
The Petrels were outshot 10-5 but Lewis tallied three saves in the match. This was Nkosi's first goal of the season, second of his career.
