Stormy Petrels end season with 2-1 loss to Sewanee

ATLANTA - Oglethorpe's 2026 season ended on a cloudy Sunday afternoon as the Petrels fell 2-1 to the Sewanee Tigers.

Mikayla Stuart was the lone goal scorer, with an assist from Evan Thomas. Katherine Crim made six saves.

Sewanee scored their first goal just seven minutes into the game, taking the Petrels by surprise. Stuart's equalizer came 10 minutes later, as most of the action occurred in the first half of the period. The Tigers took a few more shots, as did Myleigh Oglesby, but the first period ended 1-1.

The second half of the game had a noticeably different energy, as Petrels and Tigers alike needed the next goal. Thomas and Abigail Zerm made valiant attempts to bolster the Petrels, as Ana Williams, Emma Leonard and Lauren Byers played strong defense.

However, Sewanee caught a break off a corner kick to take the lead late in the game. With just 10 minutes to find a second goal of their own, Oglethorpe was unable to find another opportunity. Crim and her defenders did ward off two more shots, but the Tigers claimed the 2-1 to advance to the Southern Athletic Association tournament next weekend.

Game Notes

  • Stuart scored three goals this season.
  • Crim now has 156 career saves.
  • Thomas had two assists this season, and six in her career.
