Oglethorpe dominates Wabash in finale, wins series 2-1

ATLANTA— The Oglethorpe University baseball team closed out its weekend series against Wabash College with a commanding 15–4 victory in the finale, securing the three-game series 2–1. The Stormy Petrels showcased impressive offensive prowess throughout the contest.

After falling behind 3-0 midway through the second inning, Oglethorpe flipped the script in the middle innings with two of its biggest innings of the season. The Petrels scored five runs in the fourth, capitalizing on Wabash's defensive errors and delivering a series of clutch hits, to take the lead 6-4, then put the game well out of reach with a nine-spot in the fifth.

The bottom of the fourth proved to be a pivotal moment for the Petrels. Ryan Causey led off with a double, setting the stage for a series of scoring plays. Jace Armstrong followed with a clutch RBI single, and soon after, both Ethan Snipes and Armstrong crossed the plate on consecutive RBI plays by Will Weaver and Nick Morgan.

The offensive explosion across the two innings brought the score to 15–4, leaving the home crowd electrified.

Several Petrels shone at the plate during this impressive display. Armstrong led the charge with a stellar 3-for-3 performance, driving in two runs and scoring three times. Cade Eidam contributed significantly with three hits and two RBIs, while Trey Kinnan and Weaver each recorded multiple hits and drove in two runs apiece.

Nick Morgan also made his mark with two hits and two RBIs, and Evan Smallwood added an RBI double to the tally.

Throughout the game, Oglethorpe racked up a remarkable 17 hits as a team and drew four walks, consistently putting runners on base and creating ample scoring opportunities. The Petrels' lineup remained aggressive and disciplined, with contributions coming from nearly every position in the batting order.

On the mound, Oglethorpe utilized several pitchers to navigate the contest, with Dylan Quintilio starting strong before Parker Spring and Micah Knox stepped in for relief. Spring picked up the win to move to 2-1 on the year.
