Petrels battle hard but fall to Warriors at home

ATLANTA – Oglethorpe battled with bursts of energy but ultimately fell 17–8 to Hendrix College on Saturday afternoon in a Southern Athletic Association game.

The Petrels put together a strong offensive performance, led by Liam Miller's four-goal outing. Noah Stroud added a hat trick, while Aniedo Udoh contributed a goal and two assists, giving Oglethorpe multiple scoring options throughout the contest.

Oglethorpe came out with intensity, controlling early momentum and jumping out to a 3–1 lead in the first quarter. Miller opened the scoring, and Stroud followed with back-to-back goals, including one assisted by Udoh, as the Petrels capitalized on early opportunities and set the tone.

Hendrix responded in the second quarter, using a scoring run to gain the advantage, but Oglethorpe continued to compete on both ends. Udoh broke through late in the half with an unassisted goal, helping the Petrels stay within reach heading into the break.

The third quarter saw continued effort from Oglethorpe, with Miller scoring twice in the period to keep the offense moving. The Petrels generated quality looks and maintained pressure despite Hendrix extending its lead.

Oglethorpe showed resilience in the fourth quarter, putting together a late push with consecutive goals from Stroud and Miller. The burst highlighted the team's ability to respond and finish strong, even as time wound down.

Defensively, Jerald Spoto made his presence felt with multiple ground balls and caused turnovers, while the Petrels worked to disrupt Hendrix's rhythm throughout the game. In goal, Wyatt Desaussure turned in a standout performance with 19 saves, surpassing the 100-save mark for the season and keeping Oglethorpe competitive against a high-volume shooting attack.

Gabe Hunter also contributed at the faceoff X, securing key possessions and leading the team in ground balls as the Petrels battled for control throughout the game.
