The Petrels continued to apply pressure in the third inning. Brick Conway scored on a sacrifice fly from Cade Eidam, and a defensive miscue by LaGrange allowed Jace Armstrong to cross the plate later in the inning. Ryan Causey then lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that brought home Nick Morgan, extending the Oglethorpe lead to 7–1.
Oglethorpe added another insurance run in the fifth inning when Jace Armstrong launched a solo home run to left field, giving the Petrels an 8–1 advantage and putting the finishing touch on an already strong offensive outing.
