Thomas doubles down for win at Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Senior Evan Thomas scored two goals to secure Oglethorpe's win over the Huntingdon Hawks Tuesday evening.

Goalie Katherine Crim made two saves for the shutout as Oglethorpe's offense dominated the other end of the field.

Thomas, Mikayla Stuart and Abigail Zerm fired off several shots in the first 10 minutes, and the Hawks found a few of their own. Huntingdon managed to hold their ground for the entire first period, even against a last-minute shot from Rowan Gross.

The second half began in Huntingdon's favor, until Emma Perkins took a shot that ultimately led to Thomas' first goal. The second goal came just six minutes later, rattling the Hawks. Oglethorpe made several attempts to strengthen their lead, but none prevailed. The Petrels nabbed their second win in a row with the 2-0 win against the Hawks.

  • Oglethorpe has now won the last five games against Huntingdon.
  • The Petrels had four corner kicks while the Hawks had three. 
  • Thomas took six shots total.
