MEMPHIS—Led by a top-five finish from sophomore Dounia Bezzari and 12th-place finishes from sophomore Macie Stefano and freshman Hailey Moffett, the Oglethorpe women's golf team earned a third-place result at the Lee & Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational Sunday at the Links at Audubon. It marked a continued strong start to the season as the Stormy Petrels recorded their second straight top-five finish.
Bezzari held the solo lead after Saturday's opening round, firing an even par 71 before settling in to fourth overall with a 77 on Sunday's round two. Stefano (76-77) and Moffett (78-75) followed next in 12th overall while Morgan McKenzie, competing as an individual, finished one stroke behind in 16th with rounds of 78-76.
All seven Petrels in the event carded rounds in the 70's on day one. Bezzari led with her 71 that featured three birdies, while Stefano was just five strokes over par with a 76 across the first 18 holes. Stefano's opening round featured 14 pars, and she followed that up on day two with another 14 pars.
As a team, Oglethorpe landed third, only five strokes out of second. The Petrels shot 303 on day one and 310 on day two. All seven Petrels also were in the top 30 on the individual leaderboard, with Abrianna Carstens (79-77) taking 20th, McKazlyn Payne (78-81) taking 26th, and Madison Davis (78-82) taking 29th.
Tournament Notes
- Oglethorpe ranked third in par 3 and par 4 scoring, and second in par 5 scoring. The team also had 12 birdies to rank fourth in that category and 105 pars to rank second in that category.
- Stefano shot even par on the par 3's, ranking third. She was also second in pars with 28.
- Bezzari ranked fourth in the par 4's at 4 over and second on the par 5's at 1 under. She also tied for the lead in birdies with six, featuring three on each day.

Oglethorpe travels to Sandestin, Florida, for the Golfweek Fall Invitational Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 18-20. It will be one of two events left on the fall slate for the Stormy Petrels.
