Jamal Willis

Jamal Willis joined Oglethorpe in 2023 as a mid-distance coach. 
 
Willis helped lead the 2023 men’s cross-country team to a 9th place finish at the NCAA regionals, and mentored multiple all-conference honorees. 
 
Prior to Oglethorpe 
From 2022 to the end of 2023 Willis served Georgia Tech as the head coach for the Running Wreck Club Team. He also served as a cross-country coach for North Springs High School from 2018-2024, where he coached the school record holder for every distance event. Before returning to his alma mater, Willis was a security guard on top of his other overlapping coaching responsibilities. 
 
Education | Personal 
Willis graduated from Oglethorpe in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in computational physics. In addition to coaching the Stormy Petrels, Willis is currently a substitute teacher for Fulton County Schools.  
He is currently pursuing a master's degree in physics at the University of Georgia.
