Oglethorpe University

Miguel Vilas joined Oglethorpe in 2023 as assistant men's soccer coach, bringing with him extensive experience as a player and coach. 

Prior to Oglethorpe

Vilas comes to Oglethorpe after serving as assistant coach with the Mercer University Bears' soccer program last season. Prior to his time with Mercer, Vilas served as head coach with Los Rayos, a men’s club team, where he helped lead the team to consecutive semifinal appearances in a nationally based tournament.

Vilas played his collegiate career with NCAA Division II Union University and Division I Gardner Webb University. He later played with Inter Nashville FC and the Georgia Revolution of the NPSL and the Tri-City Otters of USL2. While with Inter Nashville FC, Vilas competed in a second round U.S. Open Cup match.

Vilas earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Gardner Webb in 2022 and his master's degree in business administration from Mercer in 2023.
