Oglethorpe University

Mark Random joined Oglethorpe's athletics staff as a volunteer assistant women's golf coach in 2021 before becoming the assistant women's golf coach in August 2022. Random's duties include running the day-to-day operations of the women's golf program, traveling with the team and being the coach on the course. 

Prior to Oglethorpe

Random and head coach Jim Owen have a lengthy history, with the two always intending for Random to join Oglethorpe's golf staff after retiring from the business world. They first met through their daughters' involvement in Junior Golf in the Atlanta area in 2007.

After years of his mentorship, Random's daughter Kaylee went on to play for Daytona State College and University of Southern Mississippi, earning an NCAA Division I scholarship at the latter. Kaylee even had a short professional golf career in Mississippi. 

Outside of the golf world, Random served on the sales team at Redico, Inc. from 2004 to 2022. This followed a two-year stint with Random Marketing Services from 2002 to 2004 and a 17-year stint in sales as a regional salesman for Kysor/Warren Refrigeration starting in 1985.
