Margaret Fox joined Oglethorpe’s athletics staff in 2023 as a part-time assistant coach before becoming former head coach Kari Elliott’s top assistant for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. Fox became the interim head coach in June 2026.
Fox is a former Canadian Olympian, NCAA Division I national champion and multitime all-NCAA American and Junior Pan American Games bronze medalist.
Fox’s role as assistant coach over the last three seasons has seen her highly involved in the development of the track & field program, during which time the team has achieved unprecedented success. She helped guide Keri Edwards to an NCAA all-America honor in the indoor triple jump in 2026 before helping lead freshman Zeno Goss to an NCAA qualifier in his debut season during the last week of this season.
In her three seasons as assistant coach, Fox coached 10 athletes to break program records in 22 events. She also led athletes to 11 Southern Athletic Association all-conference honors, including one who won the SAA title with a conference record in the 400 meters.
Prior to Oglethorpe
Fox served as assistant high school and middle school sprint coach at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Georgia, from 2014 to 2024. She also served on staff at University of Nebraska as assistant track & field recruiting coordinator from 2002 to 2004 where she organized and led over 100 recruiting visits per year.
Fox has also been self employed as a private nutrition consultant and is working toward her USATF Level I certification.
Fox qualified for the Olympics in 2000 after an outstanding track career at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she won the NCAA title in the 4x400-meter relay and was a three-time all-American in the 4x400 and distance medley relays. This followed her winning the Junior Pan American Games bronze medal in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash in 1995.

Fox graduated from Rice in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science before finishing her graduate work at Nebraska in 2004 with a Master of Science in nutrition. She is a member of Rice’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

June 4, 2026 – Fox hired as interim head coach
