Nicki Hudson came to Oglethorpe in 2022 as a high jump coach with decades of experience.
Prior to Oglethorpe
Hudson served the University of North Carolina as an assistant track & field coach for seven years, inspiring more women to compete and push themselves in track & field. She coached jumps, sprints, hurdles and relays for five seasons before focusing on high jumpers in 2017. While at UNC, Hudson coached the 2018 NCAA high jump national champion: Nicole Greene.
From 2004 to 2011, Hudson was the track & field head coach at multiple high schools throughout Georgia and the Carolinas. From 2001 to 2004 she served as director of training and recruitment for Competitive Resources Group while conducting career development workshops for various colleges across the country. This gave Hudson opportunities to work with professional leagues like the WNBA and the NBDL.
Hudson began her coaching and teaching career in 1992, spending nine years at nearby Georgia high schools.

Hudson graduated from North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. In her collegiate career, she was a four-year letter-winner, a three-time ACC Champion, a two-time All-American and a 1992 Olympic Trials finalist in the heptathlon. She held the ACC record in the heptathlon for 15 years and held the UNC record in the event for 23 years.
Hudson earned her master’s in sports administration from UNC in 2002. She was also a finalist for high jump in the 1996 Olympic trials.
