Todd Brooks

Todd Brooks was appointed director of athletics at Oglethorpe in August 2018. Brooks is a two-time Southern States Athletic Conference Athletic Director of the Year.

Brooks’ responsibilities at Oglethorpe include the management of all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics department and oversight of four assistant directors of athletics, 11 head coaches, five full-time assistant coaches and staff and numerous part-time assistant coaches.

Prior to Oglethorpe

Brooks had 24 years of experience as a collegiate athletic director prior to arriving at Oglethorpe. Brooks spent a total of 18 years as director of athletics at Berry, a fellow member of the Southern Athletic Association. During Brooks’ 18 years at the helm of the Berry athletics department, he oversaw the Vikings’ transition from NAIA to NCAA Division III as well as their expansion from 10 varsity sports to 23.

In 2004 and 2008, Brooks was named Southern States Athletic Conference Athletic Director of the Year.

Brooks has also served as director of athletics at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, and at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. 

Coaching Experience

In addition to his extensive experience as a collegiate athletic director, Brooks also has experience coaching at the collegiate level. Brooks served as the interim head women’s basketball coach at Berry 2005 and the interim head women’s volleyball coach in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

From 1997 to 2002, Brooks was the head men’s basketball coach at Berry, and from 1993 to 1997, Brooks was the head men’s basketball coach at Piedmont.

Prior to Piedmont, Brooks was the assistant basketball coach at Tusculum College from 1988 through 1993. During the 1986-87 season, Brooks was the assistant varsity and head junior varsity basketball coach at Milligan College.

Education | Personal

Born and raised a basketball fan in Indiana, Brooks earned a scholarship to play basketball at Milligan College in Tennessee, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Brooks later earned a Master of Arts in education from Tusculum where he also served as dean of students from 1990 through 1993.

Brooks is the father of two adult sons. His eldest, Chase, is an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force and stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. His youngest son, Eli, is completing a degree to become a nurse practitioner.
