Women’s soccer falls to Hendrix after tough battle on senior night

ATLANTA - As Oglethorpe celebrated senior night, and Southern Athletic Association championships loom around the corner, the Stormy Petrels fell 1-0 to Hendrix after the Warriors made an early goal in a hard-fought match.

Before the game began, the Petrels took a moment to honor the seven graduating seniors: Sarah Berg, Julia Snyder, Kirsten Brown, Marissa Romaine, Nikki Wells, Devyn Canty, and Madi Riley. Each player's achievements on and off the field were highlighted as they received flowers and a commemorative plaque.

In the first period, Hendrix quickly scored the first and only goal of the game. The Warriors would take six more shots in the first half, resulting in one save by goalkeeper Haley Lowell. Oglethorpe's sole shot in the first half came from freshman Harlow Cregar 10 minutes before halftime, and it was saved by Hendrix goalkeeper Elisabeth Nelson.

Although neither team would score in the second period, the Petrels and the Warriors both found several shot opportunities. Kirsten Wrona took Oglethorpe's first shot of the period, which was once again saved by Nelson. Cregar added two more to her overall shot tally, with Jade Anderson and Mackenzie Jones taking one shot each.
Unfortunately, the Petrels were unable to score, and fell 1-0 to Hendrix.

Overall, the Petrels took six shots and Lowell made six saves.
