Petrels falter to Rhodes in final home game of season

ATLANTA - In the final home game of the season, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 3-0 after a tough battle against Rhodes. 

Rhodes took the first shot of the game just over a minute in, but it was saved by goalkeeper Haley Lowell. Soon after, Rhodes would score their first goal of the game from a penalty kick. The Lynx took 13 shots in the first period, and Lowell made three saves. 

In the second period, Rhodes quickly found the opportunity for their second goal after taking several shots. Rhodes would take a total of 17 shots in the second half, while keeping the Petrels from taking any. The Lynx scored their third and final goal with 12 minutes still on the clock, and played keep-away from the Petrels for the remainder of that time, finalizing a 3-0 loss for Oglethorpe. Lowell made 10 saves for the second period alone. 

Overall, Lowell made 13 saves out of Rhodes' 16 shots on goal.

  • Lowell now has 92 saves for the season, with only 21 goals allowed.
