DEMOREST, Ga.— The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels picked things up right where they left them in September, with another 3-0 victory over the Lions of Piedmont University.Â
Though the victory came at three sets to none, the Lions put up a tough fight for the Petrels.  The first set went in favor of Oglethorpe by a margin of 25-20; the second set also went to the Petrels with the largest margin of defeat on the night with a score of 25-19; the third and final set of the night featured the closest competition with the Petrels edging out the Lions with a victory of 25-22.
To little surprise, senior Jackie Schner was a dominant force yet again in the win over the Lions. She posted 18 kills, one service ace, and seven digs in the match. Freshman Ashlynn Stephens also had a stellar performance with a career high-tying 12 kills.
Some say that great players play alike; that's why junior Sofia Cendoya recorded 32 digs and sophomore Gabbi Phillips added 32 assists. Cate Rosenthal posted an additional eight kills for the Petrels, while Legacy Guider had two kills and 11 digs of her own.
The Petrels moved to 12-8 on the season with a 6-6 Southern Athletic Association record. Oglethorpe is set to play two more conference games before competing in the Emory Invitational leading into SAA tournament play.
