Petrels shut out at Emory

ATLANTA - Junior goalkeeper Haley Lowell set the Oglethorpe record for saves in a game with 19 saves, but the Stormy Petrels fell 7-0 to the cross-town Emory Eagles in a tough match.

Lowell's Oglethorpe record 19 saves came on 26 shots on goal she faced. Her mark bested the previous record of 18 which was held by Lowell and Sarah Craig. Lowell's former record 18-save game came in 2021 and Craig previously held the record by herself starting in 2014.

Emory immediately took control of Tuesday's game, scoring a goal just 44 seconds in. The Eagles continued to badger the Petrels, totaling 25 shots in just the first period. Emory was able to make three goals in the first period, while the Petrels were unable to find an opportunity to take a shot.

Emory took 20 shots in the second period, and made four more goals. Two of those goals were in the first 10 minutes of the period. The Eagles scored their fourth and final goal with 12 minutes still remaining in the game, and used that time to take seven more shots against Oglethorpe. The Petrels were unable to find an opportunity to score, and fell to Emory with a final score of 7-0.
