JACKSON, Miss.- The Oglethorpe men's soccer team put on a demolition show in their return to the Southern Athletic Association after beating Millsaps in a 6-0 road win.
It would be a quick start for Oglethorpe after they were awarded a penalty kick in the fourth minute following a foul from Millsaps. Omar Nabilsi delivered a clinical finish as he sent Millsaps goalkeeper Michael Hamaeui the wrong way to give Head Coach John Akin's side the lead. It was the junior's first goal of the season.
The lead doubled just three minutes later as Garen Presnal scored in the seventh minute. It was the sophomore's first goal of the season.
Another penalty was awarded to Oglethorpe in the 13th minute after a foul from Millsaps. Patrick O'Sullivan put a comfortable cushion on Oglethorpe's lead as he slotted the ball into the net to put his team up by three goals in just 13 minutes. It was the senior's first goal of the season.
Five minutes later, the team put the dagger in the heart of Millsaps as Ethan Nunes scored in the 18th minute. It was the sophomore's third goal of the season.
In the second half, Oglethorpe added two more goals to their tally to officially seal this emphatic win. Stephen Bole scored just 10 minutes into the second half. It was the sophomore's first goal of the season.
The final goal would come late in the final moments of the match as a great ball from Stephen Summerow found Tuli Mwarumba as he headed it into the back of the net in the 81st minute. It was the senior's first goal of the season.
It was a great way for the Stormy Petrels to bounce back with a win on the road after their 1-0 home loss to Sewanee last week.
