Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Robbie Coull

Women's basketball closes out west-coast trip, comes up short against Linfield

PORTLAND, Ore.— The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels tipped off against the Wildcats of Linfield University in their second bout on the west coast in as many days. Oglethorpe would go on to lose 66-54 in what was a neck-and-neck competition until late in the third quarter.

Once again, the impact of Oglethorpe's young core talent filled up the stat sheet as freshman Keimarya Rivera dropped a game-high 20 points off of seven makes from the field and a game-high 35 minutes.

Two additional freshmen followed Rivera. Mia Geveke went 3-4 on the night shooting from the field, all three makes from beyond the 3-point arc for nine points on the night, and Malia Melton added six points of her own.

Up next, the Petrels soar back to Atlanta after rounding out their west-coast trip to host Mississippi University for Women. Tip-off between the Petrels and Owls is set for Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. in Dorough Field House.
