LAGRANGE, Ga.— The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels traveled south to face the Panthers of LaGrange College in their fourth road game in just five games played. Aside from LaGrange's lone one-point lead opening the scoring for the contest, Oglethorpe held a lead of the Panthers for almost the entire game until the final possessions of the game. The Panthers escaped the Petrels in the final seconds of the game by a margin of 69-65.
Hometown freshman talent Gabby Hudson posted her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, along with three assists and a steal while shooting 10-14 from the foul line. Ellie Ronan, a sophomore center from Park Ridge, Illinois, led the Oglethorpe offense with a team-high 13 points with four rebounds and an assist.
The impacts felt from the Petrels bench were led by Adrianna Atkinson's 10 points, four of which came from the line as she shot 4-6 from the foul stripe. Rose Dolmovich shot a perfect 2-2 from beyond the 3-point arc and 2-2 on her free throws for eight points and four rebounds, while junior guard Carly Henderson was able to hit one from 3-point territory and recorded a team-high three assists.
Up next, the Petrels return home for their next competition, hosting the crosstown rival Eagles of Emory University next week, before ending the week off with a trip to Rome, Georgia, to open Southern Athletic Association play against the Vikings of Berry College. Oglethorpe is set to host Emory at Dorough Field House Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m.
