Men’s lacrosse takes hit in first road game

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – After a tough game against Bridgewater College, the final result was defeat for the Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team with a final score of 21-5.

The five Petrel goals tonight were made by juniors Richard Bedgood IV and Jeremiah James with two goals each, and Jazz Washington who scored the Petrels' final goal. Overall, Washington took four shots, and goalkeeper Addison Irwin made 27 saves.

Although the majority of the game saw the Petrels fighting an uphill battle, Oglethorpe seemed to be on the up and up in the third quarter. Three of Oglethorpe's five goals came in this rally. Ultimately, the Bridgewater Eagles maintained the upper hand.

Overall, the team was 16-32 on clears, scooped 36 ground balls, and won 15 of 29 face-offs.

The Petrels stay on the road for their next game, facing Randolph College on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m.
