Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s lacrosse back on track with another win

LYNCHBURG, Va. - In their second road game, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels dominated at Randolph College, defeating the Wildcats 15-9.

Of the seven Petrels who scored, Hinton Chandler, Jack Brand and Richard Bedgood IV led the team with three goals each. Chandler and Bedgood each took four shots on goal, while Brand took three.

Goalkeepers Addison Irwin and Xavier Duax had seven and five saves, respectively.

The Petrels immediately got to work, with Bedgood and Jazz Washington both scoring goals within the first two minutes of the game. The first quarter saw the Petrels triple Randolph's score, with 6-2 on the board as the teams headed into the second quarter.

In a tough second quarter that only saw a combined three goals, Oglethorpe held their distance from the Wildcats. The Petrels were responsible for two of the three goals in the quarter, and headed into halftime on top at 8-3.

After halftime, the Stormy Petrels dominated the third quarter. Oglethorpe scored five times throughout the quarter, as Randolph was only able to squeeze in a goal in the last few minutes. The equation flipped in the fourth and final quarter, as Randolph scored four goals and Oglethorpe gained just one more thanks to Chandler. But since the Petrels started the quarter at 14-5, the final 15-9 win was no surprise.

Combined, the team scooped 31 ground balls, won 21 of 27 face-offs, was 14-of-17 on clears, forced 22 turnovers, and took 33 shots.

The next men's lacrosse game will be at home against LaGrange College on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m.
