ATLANTA— The Oglethorpe men's basketball team continued to dominate the Southern Athletic Association with another win Sunday afternoon against Rhodes. The final score of the game was 70-52. With nine straight wins, Oglethorpe's conference record is now 10-1.
The Stormy Petrels were led by
Dimetri Chambers with 17 points,
Lane Foster with 15 points,
Jack Murrah with 13 points and
Will Koch with 11 points. Koch added eight rebounds, and
Ryan Jenei tallied 10 rebounds.
Prior to the game, Oglethorpe honored Foster for breaking the career assists record earlier this season, and the senior answered with another stellar passing game: eight assists and no turnovers.
"After a big win like we had on Friday night, there is always a possibility of a let-down," said Head Coach
Philip Ponder. "I was glad to see the guys so locked in defensively today, and we didn't have a let-down at all. Today was a good win to cap off a great weekend sweep. Now we just have to take care of business on the road."
Oglethorpe was in the lead for the entirety of the game. At halftime, the Petrels were up by 17 with the score at 39-22, and they maintained a lead of at least 14 the entire second half.
Up next, the Petrels will hit the road and travel to face Sewanee at 9 p.m. on Friday. Earlier this season, Oglethorpe defeated Sewanee at home 74-60. It is the first of three SAA road games to finish the season.
