ATLANTA - After holding a decent lead for a majority of the game, Oglethorpe was overtaken by the top-seeded Lynx of Rhodes College, who quickly overtook the Petrels and set the final score at 69-63.Â
Oglethorpe saw 11 players in the scoring column, four of whom were in double digits. Sydni Donovan led with a total of 18 points, followed by Ellie Ronan with 14, and underclassmen Emma Perna and Carly Henderson each totaling 11.
The Stormy Petrels started the first quarter strong, gaining six points before Rhodes had a chance to score. Although the Lynx were right on their heels, Oglethorpe stayed on top and ended the first quarter at 13-7. The Petrels continued the trend into the second quarter, and headed into halftime with a score of 28-22.
Oglethorpe held the lead until the score was tied at 42-42 with less than three minutes left in the third quarter. Rhodes took off for the remainder of the quarter, and into the fourth quarter.
Oglethorpe hits the road for its next game, traveling to Sewanee, Tennessee, to face Sewanee on Friday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.
